5 Ways To Gain Greater Social Media Exposure
Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 31.01.14 by John Meloche
In yesterday’s blog, we listed a few ways that you could use social media to boost your brand. Being accessible and offering new and inventive approaches to wowing your customers were just a couple of the suggestions listed. After all, social media allow you to communicate with a vast number of potential customers in ways that were once thought to be unimaginable.
Well, just imagine what you could accomplish if you were utilizing your social media profiles that right way! It’s okay if you don’t consider yourself an expert. Most of us are still getting a handle on using our social media accounts regularly – never mind, correctly. But, as they say, practice makes perfect. So, in today’s blog, we figured it would be worthwhile to give you some practice tips.
In fact, we decided to research some advice from a social media expert ourselves. Sofie De Beule is one such expert. On SocialMediaToday.com, she writes that “making your social channel a lively and vibrant community, isn’t such an easy task.” Therefore, she provides what she considers to be five powerful ways that you can boost your social media presence.
Provoke engagement. “Social” is the key word in “social media”, she De Beule points out. It’s important to not consider your profiles ways to communicate one-way. Instead, to keep your audience interested, you should fill your feed with a variety of different content that promotes interactivity. Ask questions and be sure to provide answers to ones you find yourself. It’s all about getting involved in conversations.
Be human. De Beule reminds us that our audience is human. Remember that people join social media to follow people, not brands. So it’s important to give your social media channels “a personal touch”. Don’t pretend that you are someone that you’re not, she insists. And don’t underestimate the value of being human. Give your followers someone they can relate to. You’ll be rewarded with a lot of attention.
Don’t be afraid to add some ‘fun’. “Running a company is always serious business,” writes De Beule, “but this should not necessarily be reflected in your social media channels. Social media offers you the perfect opportunity to add a ‘fun factor’ to your business, no matter what industry you’re in.” So be witty. Tell jokes. Become a character that people enjoy interacting with.
Support charities people care about. It’s hard to find a list of promotional tips that doesn’t involve the advocating of charity work. “Brands are important cultural influencers,” says De Beule. The ways in which you support your communities will say a lot about the person you are and the brand you represent. When you show support for what your customers care about, it goes quite a long way.
Get out of your comfort zone. Using social media may be an out-of-the-norm experience for you to begin with. So don’t be afraid of exploring this new concept in ways that you wouldn’t normally be comfortable with. Use it as an opportunity to learn new things about others while divulging things about yourself that others may not know. You’ll open yourself up to a whole new world of opportunities!
