It’s all about starting conversations and getting people interested in what you have to say. Twitter is a great way gain attention.

Use Facebook. Well, you didn’t think this social media giant was going to be left off of the list, did you? Remember that using social media is free. Smarta.com recommends that you take advantage of Facebook by uploading photos of your products while updating your status to let customers know what you’re up to. Being on Facebook is a surefire way to look professional to a mass audience.

Use YouTube. People love videos. Seriously. People really love videos! So much so, that YouTube has become one of the most popular websites in the world. There’s almost nothing that can’t be found on YouTube. So why can’t people find your business on this site? “Film yourself building your latest project,” says Smarta.com, “If done well, it can show customers that you really care about what you’re creating.”

Set up a website. If you’re using social media, but you don’t have your website up and running, you’re pretty much shooting yourself in the foot. It’s an online world. This is a topic that we’ve blogged about often. And because it’s true, you’re doing your business no favours by not regularly updating your website. Remember that, these days, customers take to Google a lot faster than they do to walking into your store.

Start a blog. Speaking of regular updates, blogs are arguably the best way to keep your website relevant. As Smarta.com puts it, blogs “encourage people to spend longer on your website and will encourage repeat visitors. You should style yourself as an expert on your particular field or industry. It’s the perfect way to enforce brand messages and engage with customers.”

Email marketing. Let’s not forget how easily email can send your brand messaging to a wide audience in a short span of time. Encourage your customers to fill in forms with their email addresses, advises the site. You can also have them sign up for more information on the “Contact Us” portion of your website. Avoid spamming, but be sure to contact your list with exclusive offers.
