The Declining Effectiveness of the TV

Posted in Social Media, Synergy Suggestions on 05.07.16 by John Meloche

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve touched upon social commerce and the amplified importance of social media for businesses. We discussed how strategic social media can be when it comes to advertising. Not only that but we mentioned how it can allow your business to be more efficient with its spending. With this in mind, we’re looking at another big advertising medium: the TV.

TV advertising has always been used and has long be known as the most effective advertising medium. Its mass reach hasn’t ever been matched, until now. The effectiveness of TV advertising is definitely declining. It all starts with the deteriorating TV audience. Streaming media platforms such as Netflix, Crave, etc., play a large role in the dwindling TV audience. Alexis Kleinman, from the Huffington Post, wrote about the impact Netflix and other video on demand services have on the TV. She wrote that in the US, there was a 40% decline in TV ratings during the third and fourth quarters of 2014 and it’s all a result of people spending more time watching streaming TV online.

The TV was once a famed place for advertisements, however, times have changed and new trends have brought forth new norms and more reliable and effective advertising mediums. There are serious concerns about the mass reach TV ads offer. TV’s competitive advantage as an advertising medium is fading and it’s now becoming more ideal to pursue different advertising options. We have a rapidly changing business world and it appears as though the TV just can’t catch up.

5 Benefits To Using Calendars To Promote Your Business

Posted in Promotional Products on 20.10.14 by John Meloche

Kittens-160x160With just a couple of weeks left to go in October, preparing for the new year is bound to be on everyone’s plates. As a business owner, this provides you with a great opportunity. Not only are there tons of ideas (that you can be sure we’ll be blogging about in the coming weeks) about how to create excitement about shopping at your store for the holidays, but you also have the chance to begin a new marketing campaign that will work well into the new year.

As you know, Synergy Marketing strongly promotes the use of promotional products to boost your business. And when a new year starts, there is arguably no better promo gift than the calendar. Not only are they among our most affordable promo gifts, but they work all year round! Obviously, right? Just consider the impact of calendars bearing your company’s name and contact information on the walls of your favourite clients.

With calendars, it’s simply hard to go wrong. They go up on walls as daily reminders about the various things people need to do. But with your promotional calendar, your favourite clients will receive daily reminders about where to shop. Your place! It’s the perfect time of year to order the promo calendars of your choice. And, in case you weren’t already aware, there are many benefits to using them to boost your business. Here are five.

1. They save you money. Did we mention how inexpensive our promo calendars are? Easily among the best buys from our catalogue, our calendars go for only $1.98 each. You would be hard pressed to find a better deal on any calendar anywhere. The cost-effectiveness of calendars is reason enough to invest in them. Again, remember that they provide you with year-round advertising. How do you beat that?

2. They reflect your brand’s personality. With so many different designs to choose from, your promo calendars can help to provide a unique impression of your brand. For example, we have Classic and Exotic Cars designs that are excellent for those in the automotive industry. A degree of high-quality professionalism is communicated here. We also have Dogs, Wildlife and Kittens designs that could connote your love for animals or just simply your “warm and fuzzy” side. Your calendar choice can say a lot about you.

3. They provide long-lasting advertising. As we mentioned, and as is obvious, calendars serve great purposes for one full year. They are undeniably useful items that help to remind your recipients about your brand each and every day. Make 2015 your most profitable year yet. Of course, it will take more than promo calendars to accomplish that. But you certainly can’t go wrong with handing out these friendly daily reminders of where to shop.

4. They make advertising easy. Calendars truly belong in the “can’t go wrong” category. They’re not the type of promo gifts that are specific to any industry or any one type of shopper. Honestly, who couldn’t use a calendar? Practically everyone needs them so they are widely accepted. It will be pretty difficult to find a person who has no use for a calendar. If you want to make promoting your business with promo gifts easy, calendars are the way to go.

5. They are readily available. With the year winding down, it’s hard to choose a better time of year than now to invest in promotional calendars. Hand them out for the next two months and watch how happy they make your customers. Getting them is easy. Contact Synergy Marketing at 1-877-748-9884 to order the calendar of your choice today. They’re bound to help you have your best holiday season and new year yet!

5 Ways To Help Your Business Fly This Fall

Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 22.08.14 by John Meloche

winner businesswoman with raised armsWith exactly one month of summer left to go, many business owners are considering ways that they’ll be promoting their brands during the fall. And to be honest, by a “month”, we really mean a couple of weeks. Because while the calendar tells us that we have until the 22nd of September to enjoy the summer season, the kids will be back in school closer to the beginning of next month. The back-to-school season is generally considered summer’s end.

With that said, it seems pretty obvious what business owners should do to bring in more customers in the coming weeks. A couple of weeks ago, we blogged about the importance of running “back to school” promotions to speak to the needs of both students and their parents. And hey, you can’t leave teachers out either! But what else can you do to get your business of to a flying start this fall? Here are five great ideas.

1. Celebrate all of the holidays. According to SeverityDesign.com, it’s important to take advantage of all of the holidays that the fall brings our way. And we’re not just talking about Thanksgiving and Halloween here. There’s Remembrance Day, Black Friday and as the site reminds us, Grandparents Day and Boss’s Day too. You may even want to create your own “holidays” to create special events at your place of business to attract curious consumers.

2. Say thank you. SeverityDesign.com also recommends that you send out emails to your clients and customers in order to provide them with genuine “thanks yous” for their support. In addition, you may want to “list a few accomplishments the company has achieved because of their support. This is a chance to not only show appreciation, but also to put your face in front of them to continue to nurture and foster your business relationship.”

3. Host fundraisers and open houses. The summer is a time when most people enjoy coming out of their homes to enjoy the outdoors. When the fall season hits, it’s generally reason enough for most people to stay inside more often. By holding special events at your place of business, you give customers a good reason to visit you. “Keep the primary purpose for the event social so people don’t feel like they are being marketed to,” advises SeverityDesign.com.

4. Create holiday mobile apps. If this sounds like a huge undertaking because you don’t consider yourself very tech-savvy, don’t worry, you’re not alone! The website even admits that “if you’re a business that’s taking advantage of mobile applications, you’re already ahead of the competition.” You see, many people use their smart phones and tablets to research businesses. The more you take advantage of this, the better. At the very least, make sure your website can be viewed on these devices.

5. Hand out promo gifts. A piece of advice that is bound to make it on nearly all of our advice lists, promotional gifts truly work all year round. But when people visit your store this fall, you should provide additional incentive for them to return. Promo gifts are great ways to say thank you to your loyal customers. They are also great ways to begin new relationships with people who visit your store during your special events.

Order the promo gift of your choice today. Doing so is easy! Simply call one of our friendly and knowledgeable Synergy Marketing sales reps at 1-877-748-9884. As SeverityDesign.com advises, “don’t wait for the last minute to get these marketing items in order and begin thinking about taking advantage of this high traffic driven season. This is the best time right now to begin to plan for making the most of the fall and winter months to make it the best end of quarter thus far!”

5 Tips On How To Talk Your Way To The Top

Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 17.07.14 by John Meloche

Depositphotos_10286125_xsThere are literally countless ways to promote your business. And readers of the Synergy Marketing Blog have received hundreds upon hundreds of pieces of advice on how business owners can grow their brands over the past few years. We enjoy surfing the internet to gain a greater perspective on how different business professionals handle the tasks of advertising their companies. And no piece of advice is ever wrong.

The thing is we can’t take every single tip we receive and put them into practice. The key is to find the ideas that work best for our respective brands and adopt them into our own marketing campaigns. Have you found the promotional plan that works best for your business yet? If not, don’t worry. Trial and error is often a part of the process for us all to determine what ideas work and which ones don’t.

It’s the business owners who go through these ups and downs to figure out the best choices who end up making the biggest successes of their companies. In today’s blog, we’ll continue our tradition of providing promotional ideas in hopes that you may find the perfect one or ones to promote your business. But there is a special focus on “talking” in today’s blog. We’ll review five ways that you can talk your way to the top!

1. Call your customers. Many businesses utilize call centres as part of their approach to advertising. You may think that telemarketing is an outdated resource, but the truth is that there is nothing like the good old telephone to reach out and touch somebody! Often, small businesses go unheard of if they are not putting out cold calls. The key is to have a friendly and professional approach to advertising your brand to intrigue new prospects when you call them.

2. Talk to your customers in person. Okay, if there is anything better than giving someone a phone call, it’s speaking to him or her in person. Yes, even in today’s modern era when we all love to communicate via social media, you simply can’t beat the face-to-face encounter. Be sure to approach your customers when they walk through your doors in an upbeat and friendly matter and get to know them. Making new friends this way can be very lucrative in the long run.

3. Be a live guest speaker. There are bound to be seminars, trade shows, lectures and other opportunities to speak in your community. If you’re an expert in your field – and you should feel confident that you are – reach out to community centres, schools and other organizations that may be holding events in the coming months to see if you can participate. Again, being able to talk directly to people is a great way to represent your brand.

4. Be a guest speaker on the radio. Not all speaking engagements have to be in front of an audience that you can see. Look into local talk radio programs to discover if they are looking for guests. You never know when a topic of discussion that you are an expert at will be the subject of a show. The hosts may even wish to interview you specifically about your business and how you got it started. It’s all about being unique and interesting. Do you have it in you?

5. Join a community group. Arguably, there’s no one better to support your business than those who live closest to it. So perhaps the most talking you should do about your business should be with those in your surrounding area. Look into community groups to find out how you may be of service to them. It should go without saying that giving back to your community will help you gain great favour with your neighbours – an obvious plus for your business.

We’d love to talk more with you about how to grow your business. So we remain available to take your calls at 1-877-748-9884 in order to get you the perfect promotional gift to help with your advertising campaign. Call us today!
