Marketing Lessons From Euro 2016

Posted in News, Promotional Products on 11.07.16 by John Meloche

What an amazing tournament! This year’s Euro was unbelievable, with all the upsets that took place, the injuries sustained, the goals scored, it was truly a remarkable event. However, with Euro 2016 finishing yesterday, we’re reflecting on our Euro experience and evaluating effective marketing ideas implemented during the tournament.

We’ll start this segment off by noting the effectiveness of promotional items. Promotional items are one of the most useful promotional tools, and when you combine them with such a significant event such as Euro, then you’re exponentially increasing their popularity. It’s important to note that these products can become more than just promotional tools. For most Euro supporters, when they receive these items, they typically tend to preserve the items and keep them in mint condition. This in turn promotes the idea that these promotional items become collector items. This is a very realistic idea as many people tend to keep these items as a landmark for their memory; a visual cue of their Euro 2016 experience (I can guarantee you every Portugal fan is doing this right now.)

The idea behind these items are that they become easily cherished. They develop sentimental value and serve as a lasting memory of an amazing experience. So to all the Portugal fans out there, congratulations, and make sure you keep that mini Portugal soccer ball in tiptop shape.

5 Ways To Run Your Business Right

Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 19.06.14 by John Meloche

Competition in businessStarting a business can be a harrowing task. But it can have countless rewards if you do it right. An important thing to keep in mind is that success takes time, and a lot of hard work. Some entrepreneurs get too easily discouraged when they are starting out and this hurts their chances of growing their businesses. In many cases, small steps must be taken. And much patience needs to be practiced.

When it comes to taking steps, it must be noted that each step is needed in order to get to the top. It’s just like a literal flight of stairs. Without taking each step – or trying to skip some of them – you may end up faltering. Consider how important your business is to you and remember that taking the necessary steps to achieve success will be worth it in the long run. So what steps need to be taken in order to ensure that your business grows?

On TheGuardian.com, there are ten steps listed that are considered to be those taken by “experts”. In today’s and tomorrow’s blogs, we’ll be analyzing this list by providing our take on each of the steps. As usual, the Synergy Marketing Blog seeks to provide unique insight into an important topic to all of us. Business promotion is the name of the game. Let’s look at five ways in which you can do it right!

1. Make a thorough business plan and revisit it often. This is surprisingly something that too many business owners seem to overlook. A plan must be written out, analyzed and reworked a number of times to ensure that it will help your brand to succeed. As the website points out, “if circumstances change, you might have to alter your sights more than slightly, and this isn’t a bad thing.”

2. Keep communicating. That means staying on top of everyone involved in the creation and running of your business. Your bank, phone company, lawyers and investors should all be available at the touch of a button. Your staff members, suppliers and clients need to be kept in constant touch. In other words, make sure that you keep everyone informed of how their relationship with you is important. It will improve your bottom line for the long haul.

3. Never be afraid to ask for the money. If a client owes you money, simply ask for it. Don’t feel that it’s impolite or outside of your boundaries to request payment. Depending on your business type, there are times when you’ll have to complete a project and then receive payment once it is done. If you’ve held up your end of the bargain, there’s no reason to wait around for your cash. Be sure to have an agreement in place so that there is no confusion about when payments are due.

4. Never mistake an invoice for cash. Don’t assume that you’re guaranteed a payment simply because you’ve invoiced your customer. According to TheGuardian.com, “customers can unfortunately go down as well as anyone else in the current financial climate. It’s easy to look at a strong order book and assume everything’s going to be fine when the last batch of invoices is paid, and things might well be; there’s also the chance, unfortunately, that a customer will be unable to pay.”

5. Do what you say, when you say. Customers hate broken promises. Once you’ve lost a customer’s trust, it’s nearly impossible to get it back. So be sure to live up to your word. As TheGuardian.com points out, “this means delivering services or goods and getting it right.” It can also entail being on top of the so-called small things such as returning phone calls promptly. Stick to your word and your customers will stick around.

7 More Interesting Ideas For How To Boost Sales

Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 22.05.14 by John Meloche

Depositphotos_17437129_xsIn yesterday’s blog, we began to take a look at a list found on Printwand.com. It provided a number of options for business owners to use as promotional ideas for their companies. In many cases, the tips pointed out tried-and-true methods of business advertising. And, in other cases, some interesting ideas were presented that you may never have considered before. In today’s blog, we’ll continue our look at that list.

1. Point-of-sale displays. Sometimes, a little outside-of-the-box thinking is required to drum up extra sales. Printwand.com has an interesting idea on how to attract attention to products by the way they are displayed. “Present your in-store products in an unusual way. Stack them in a huge pyramid, or use oddly shaped signs. If you have a window out front, create a wacky display using mannequins or other fun objects,” reads the site.

2. Offer free shipping. Anytime the word “free” is used during a marketing campaign, it is bound to draw some attention. If your company ships its items to its customers, free shipping in an excellent way to encourage such sales. Make sure that your company website makes clear which specific items are eligible, and between which dates that free shipping is available.

3. Offer easy payments or installment plans. If your store sells big ticket items, it may be a good idea to give your customers a little bit of a break when it comes to paying the items off. Yes, many customers will be using their credit cards which give them the same luxury. But as Printwand.com points out, “these are simple ideas that attract customers by making your products more affordable.”

4. Offer a group or referral discount. There’s nothing like a referral to help boost your business. If you offer customers discounts when they refer your company to others, you’ll be getting them to do your promotional work for you. The site insists that “these are the sort of discounts that get people talking.” Group discounts are great too. After all, the more customers you get, the better, right?

5. Bundle products or services together. Package deals are actually quite popular. They help you to move more of your product, but they also help customers to feel that they are receiving greater value for their hard-earned money. “Package no-selling products with your more popular products,” says Printwand.com, “Giving a customer more for less both encourages them to buy and clears your idle inventory.”

6. Upsell. “Highlight your more expensive products,” suggests the website, “Give those products more attention in your store or on your website. Provide benefits and reasons why those products are better.” It only makes sense to give more attention to your biggest sellers. Informing the public about how beneficial they can be is an important step in selling a lot of those products.

7. Cross-sell. Printwand.com reminds us that a customer is more likely to make another purchase from you, directly after making a purchase. Cross-sell a product that may work in conjunction with the product that has already been purchased. Give your customers the opportunity to feel that you are doing your best to meet their needs and make their shopping experiences more fulfilling.

Be sure to check out tomorrow’s blog as we conclude our look at these great promotional ideas. And don’t forget to call Synergy Marketing at 1-877-748-9884 to order a great promotional product to help grow your business!

4 Tips On Choosing Promo Gifts Wisely

Posted in Promotional Products on 13.05.14 by John Meloche

Tips penOn the Synergy Marketing Blog, we talk a lot about how effective promotional products are in boosting businesses all across Canada. And we should know! We have many years of experience helping Canadian business owners grow their client bases and increase their sales thanks to the use of our fantastic promo gifts. There is, however, a certain strategy that must be employed when selecting your promo gift.

Promo gifts are for your specific clients. And you don’t run the same type of business as everyone else out there. That means that your promotional gift shouldn’t be the same as everyone else’s out there! Naturally, we have a wide array of gifts to choose from. And there is no one better to speak to about them than one of our friendly sales representatives.

But, in today’s blog, we’d like to point out a few things you may need to do in order to choose the right promo gift for you business. On BrightIdeasForBiz.com, Ally Piper writes that “while promotional products provide a high ROI for your marketing dollars, often the hardest part is choosing the right promotional products to hand out to their prospective clients.” She includes four tips on how “to ease that process”.

1. Know your audience and their needs. Yes, people like getting things for free. But wouldn’t your promo gift be a whole lot more effective if it suited a need had by your client? Remember who makes up your target audience. Consider their ages and genders. Will they get good use out of the gift you’re giving out? This form of marketing will communicate to your clients that you truly care about addressing their needs.

2. Select a product which is related somehow to what you sell. Industry-related promotional items work best in getting customers to correlate their free gifts with your business. What is the nature of your industry? What auto mechanics hand out to their customers should likely be different than what restaurateurs hand out to their patrons. Often, the more you can tie in the nature of your business to the gifts you give out, the better.

3. Hand out a useful promotional product. By the same token, the more useful your promo gift is, the more promotional power it carries. Piper writes that “nobody likes to keep useless stuff collecting dust on their shelves. Promotional products should show your appreciation to your clients and of course – keep your brand out there in the open. And this is possible only if your clients actively use your free items. Function wins out every time!”

4. Looks are important. Going the cheap route, says Piper, likely won’t do you any favours. You want the reputation of your brand to be reflected in the gift you’ve given out.
“Also keep in mind to whom you are giving the promotional product,” she writes, “If a customer is in your office, it is ok to give him a pen, but if the CEO of a very important partner of yours has paid you a visit – then a set of writing accessories in a neat package will be much more appropriate.”

Don’t you think it’s about time you get your hands on some business-boosting promotional products? We think so. As mentioned earlier, Synergy Marketing is home to some of the most knowledgeable and friendly sales reps in our industry. Give one of them a call today at 1-877-748-9884 to discuss which promotional gifts would work best to promote your business!

5 More Ideas About How To Select The Perfect Gift

Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 09.05.14 by John Meloche

Businessman holding and offer a giftPromo gifts are great. Tell you something you don’t know, right? Well, maybe what you don’t know is how to choose the perfect promo gift to advertise your company. And that’s okay. It’s not the easiest thing in the world to do. After all, there are so many promotional products to choose from, it can be quite the process to select just one to represent your brand.

Not to worry. There are several factors that you want to take into consideration when making your choice. And lucky for you, we listed many of them in yesterday’s blog. In today’s blog, we’ll continue to take a look at the various opinions of business owners across the world that can be found in the Rescue A CEO Blog. Let’s pick up where we left off yesterday, shall we?

Serve your intended goal and catch the user’s eye. According to Natalie Nathanson of Magnetude Consulting, “promotional products must do two things: they must serve your intended business goal and they must catch the user’s attention.” She advises that when you choose your promo gift, you must make sure that it can generate as much awareness and name recognition of your company as possible.

Choose a most memorable product. According to Richard Wilens of DoWilco Promotional Products, there are three steps that must be taken when choosing a memorable promo gift for your business. #1. Choose the right product to represent your brand. #2. Decorate it well making sure your brand name and contact information is clear. #3. Distribute in a smart manner. This includes deciding upon exactly who should be getting your gifts.

Get a product to demonstrate your brand. Sometimes, your promo gift should represent a direct reflection of what your business is all about. Lisa Dale of Signed Sealed Delivered writes that the key to choosing the perfect promo gift is to demonstrate to your ideal customers what your company is all about. The gift should reflect the likes and dislikes of your target audience.

Quality over quantity. According to Vladimir Gendelman of Company Folders, it’s easy to be tempted to by cheap promo gifts. Resist that temptation, he insists. Promo gifts are already cost-effective. You’ll want to make sure that you get high quality items so that your brand is reflected favourably when they are given out. What would be the use in handing out an easily breakable, unusable object?

Put thought into selecting which item is best. According to Jerry Rackley of Demand Metric, there are two critical characteristics of promo items: “1. They’re well branded: the possessor can easily identify the association between you and the item. It not only has your branding on it, but your contact information. 2. They’re kept: cheap promo items that don’t last or are forgettable work against you – they break or just get tossed.”

As you are aware, Synergy Marketing provides the best promo products in the business! And just in case you weren’t aware, our awesome sales reps are standing by to discuss with you which gift would be the perfect one to promote your company. You now know what you need in order to make the right decision. Let’s discuss it today! Give us a call at 1-877-748-9884.

5 Ways Promo Gifts Can Celebrate Your Staff

Posted in Promotional Products on 02.05.14 by John Meloche

Business team celebrating a triumphPromo gifts work wonders in the building-customer-relationships department. For the past couple of days, we have been detailing just how handy, inexpensive and effective they are on our blog. Promo gifts leave good impressions, while helping to serve your clients in ways they never expected. Your gifts are helpful, handy little items that actually do a lot more than simply advertise.

We need pens to write. We need water bottles to drink from. We need key chains to store our important keys. Okay, you get the picture. You don’t need the rundown. But a helpful reminder that promo gifts help to build stronger relationships than business cards can’t hurt, can it? Here’s another thing that can’t hurt: a reminder that your employees need a little love as well.

Yes, as important as your customers are to your business, it should never be forgotten that your staff members are the ones that help you to keep your business running. Without them, where would you be? As a result, it’s important to continually recognize them by showing your appreciation. And, as you may have guessed, your promotional products are excellent ways to do just that.

Show Your Appreciation. Simply hand out gifts to employees who are showing concerted efforts and are producing great results. Sending them home with pens, key chains, mugs and water bottles will also help them to feel more a part of your team. Remember that their gifts will symbolize their commitment to your brand outside of the office space. And it will simply make them feel appreciated for their efforts.

Award Contest Winners. At Synergy Marketing, we love encouraging friendly competition. When a team dynamic is set up at your work place, it can really help to get things going. If you’re looking to make your staff a bit more productive, set up weekly contests where the most productive teams are awarded prizes. Your promo gifts will come in very handy here.

Recognize Special Achievements. Hopefully, you have stellar members of your staff who tend to go over and above the call of duty to make sure their jobs are more than well done. They deserve recognition. In certain cases, high-end promotional gifts are necessary. They will reflect the amount of effort put into the job by your staff member and encourage the rest of the team to aspire to accomplish greater goals.

Celebrate Anniversaries. The one year mark. The five year mark. The ten year mark. Honestly, each and every year of an employee’s tenure can be celebrated in any way that you wish. Just make sure that it doesn’t go by unnoticed. Your promotional gift will be a nice way to commemorate the occasion of someone who has worked for your company for a significant amount of time.

Acknowledge Birthdays. Hey, while you’re at, you may as well not leave birthdays out. Showing your staff members that you appreciate them is a great way to keep a happy staff. And we all know that a happy staff is a productive staff. Your promotional gifts truly have the ability to make a lot of people happy. Isn’t it time you ordered promo gifts for your company?

Free Stuff Gives Your Brand A Big Plus!

Posted in Promotional Products on 10.04.14 by John Meloche

Free - Green ButtonSometimes, to really get a good buzz going for your business, you need to think “outside of the box”. Coming up with new and inventive ways to highlight your company’s greatest attributes will help to separate it from its competition. And even though promotional products have been around for decades, it can be argued that using them as part of your marketing strategy is “outside of the box” thinking.

That’s because your promotional gifts are made to be given out for free. Some people – many people, actually – still live under the idea that you can’t get something for nothing. Giving things away for free – anything – can’t be a way to generate money, they believe. But the opposite is actually true! Promotional gifts work wonders because they offer incentives for customers to come back and visit your place of business.

They work as great advertising tools because they provide constant reminders about where people should shop. Your promo gift has a lot more value than a business card or a flyer. Those generally get tossed in the garbage or lost in a pile of other cards and flyers. Your promo gift, however, is a useful and handy item that can serve its recipient well for many years to come.

On Ideas4SmallBiz.com, it is argued that giving things away for free is an effective promotional model. The site, in fact, lists a number of reasons why “free stuff” can work to elevate the status of your company in the public eye. At Synergy Marketing, we’ve believed in this concept for years. In today’s blog, we’ll take a look at a few reasons that may help you believe in this concept as well.

Free stuff creates a buzz. The website acknowledges that “it doesn’t take long for news to travel.” And when you give your customers reasons to talk about you, they will! Especially given the fact that social media is all the rage these days – as we’ve pointed out in our last two blogs – word travels faster than ever. Get people talking about you by handing out free gifts that are bound to please all who receive them.

Encourages people to try your products/service/experience risk free. The concept of handing out items for free doesn’t have to be confined to just promotional products. Ideas4SmallBiz.com suggests that you hand out samples of your products so that you can encourage customers to continue using them. According to the site, “people are more likely to try something they normally wouldn’t if it is free and without commitment.”

It’s the hook that gets customers in – so they’ll stick around and spend more. The website admits that you will always have customers who wish to buy “the bare minimum”. But there are so many more who will be willing to spend more with you because they’ve been given the opportunity to save money by receiving something for free. This is certainly true for restaurants. Free drinks mean more money for appetizers!

In tomorrow’s blog, we’ll continue to review this concept and reveal a few more reasons that “free stuff” can work to boost your business. As always, the friendly and experienced sales reps at Synergy Marketing are standing by to take your calls so that they may speak to you about the wonderful promotional gifts that you can use to build buzz for your brand. Give them at a call at 1-877-748-9884!

Using Promo Gifts To Your Advantage

Posted in Promotional Products on 17.03.14 by John Meloche

Businessman offerWelcome to Promo Product Week, here at Synergy Marketing. Okay, so maybe it’s always “Promo Product Week” around here. But this, week the Synergy Marketing Blog will be paying special attention to the many ways in which promotional products can help your business to grow. After all, that’s what we do around here – only provide the best promo products in the business!

But what are they really good for? Are promo products really all that helpful? Do they truly bring in more customers and make companies more money? These are questions that are often on the minds of many an entrepreneur. The answers will be found in the blogs that we post this week. You see, for many years, Synergy Marketing has gained experience working business owners across Canada.

And, as a result, the answers are quite clear to us. Promo products work! But you don’t have to take our word for it. According to AllBusiness.com, “promotional products offer a unique opportunity to get your company’s name out to its target market — and keep it there.” The website also offers business owners tips on how to make the most out of the promotional products they choose to use to promote their companies.

Set clear goals for your promotion. To truly make your promo gifts work for you, you first need to determine exactly what you wish to accomplish. Promo gifts can be used to build awareness for your brand, boost your sales, thank your customers or all of the above. Your goal, however, should be clearly set out so that the promotional items that you choose best represent your end goal.

Set a budget and stick to it. One of the best things about promotional products is how inexpensive they are compared to traditional modes of advertising. It’s still important, however, to know exactly how much you have available in your budget to dedicate towards this marketing strategy. Keep track of your expenses and factor in all of the costs necessary before making your order.

Seek out partnership opportunities. Promo gifts are EXCELLENT ways of starting and building new relationships. As AllBusiness.com suggests, “if you’d like to offer gifts at one of your events, ask one of your suppliers to share the cost. In exchange, recognize them by placing their logo on the gift. Joint promotional efforts strengthen relationships with suppliers and make a statement about your commitment”.

Recognize the limited shelf life of most promotional products. “Don’t buy more than you need,” advises the site, “A lot of businesses have stockrooms full of outdated promotional items.” When you speak to one of the sales representatives at Synergy Marketing, be sure to let him or her know your goals so that you’ll get assistance with choosing both the right gift and the correct quantity.

The staff at Synergy Marketing is made up of marketing experts. Our team is comprised of individuals who understand the needs of Canadian business owners. They’ll help you to select the gift that is right for your brand. Give us a call at 1-877-748-9884 to order your promo gifts today. And be sure to check back daily for new blogs on how to best use promotional gifts to your advantage!

5 Benefits To Promotional Product Advertising

Posted in Promotional Products on 29.01.14 by John Meloche

Depositphotos_7759171_xsFor decades, promotional products have been helping business owners all across Canada to grow their customer bases in ways that traditional advertising cannot. Handing out promo gifts sparks a personal connection between business owner and customer. This personal connection cannot be achieved through television commercials and radio spots – which cost so much more to make!

Instead, promo gifts help for conversations to be started. They are kind gestures that are most often met with great appreciation. Promo gifts often create bonds that turn into referrals. And we all know that there is no better type of promotion than word-of-mouth promotion! Let’s not forget that promo gifts are useful items. That means that they actually perform functions that ensure your brand is being remembered daily.

Pens, flashlights, key chains, sunglasses, rulers, markers, calendars and so many more products that are used on a regular basis can be part of your best promotional campaign ever! Of course, once your business name and logo is attached, the possibilities are endless. But, as always, you don’t have to take our word for it. On Examiner.com, Joshua Cintron provides five benefits to promotional product advertising.

Stand above the competition. Cintron writes that promo products give your company a “unique, creative flair” that helps it to stand out from other companies. He notes that promo gifts help you to open up lines of communication with your customers. They make for great icebreakers that encourage your recipient to pay greater attention to the things you have to say. What better way to outdo your competitors?

Actual and inexpensive advertising solutions. Cintron reiterates that promo gifts are far less expensive than radio or television advertising. For a fraction of what it would cost to run a print ad or billboard, your promo gift will literally live with its recipient. Commercials come and go within seconds. The impact is minimal. A useful promo gift becomes part of your customer’s life. You can stay on the minds of your best clients with these very cost-effective gifts.

Useful, tangible items for giveaway. “These products are useful items that people can keep with them at all times for future reference,” writes Cintron, “The usefulness of the item goes beyond the person who receives it. If the product is unwanted, it is typically passed along to the next person who may use it and benefit from it.” So you’re not only securing customer loyalty from a recipient, you’re gaining greater attention from others too!

Flexibility of items purchased. There are so many different promo gifts to choose from, there is literally no end to your promotional possibilities. At Synergy Marketing, we are experts at selecting the right gift for the right business. As Cintron points out, many items are flexible and can be made to match the theme of your business. For example, we have gifts such as Ice Scrapers that are perfect for the automotive industry.

Unique way to introduce a new product to a target audience. According to Cintron, “this is a unique way to introduce a new product into the market. The target audience can evaluate the product, determine if it is good or not and then the company can collect data to perfect the product. Not only does this work to improve the new product but will also increase consumer confidence in the new item if the target audience finds them useful.”

7 More Money-Saving Marketing Strategies

Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 24.01.14 by John Meloche

Marketing strategy direction road sign.In yesterday’s blog, we revisited the concept of advertising your business in ways that are either cheap or free. It’s not impossible! Companies don’t necessarily require big budgets to build business – they just need to be creative. On PCMag.com, Kathy Yakal lists several tips to help business owners take their brands to the next level without having to break the bank. In today’s blog, we’ll review a few more.

Spruce up your Web site. “Stale sites don’t attract business,” writes Yakal. Your website is arguably your best way to communicate to the world that your company is up-to-date and with the times. So, if your site is rarely updated, it will appear as if nothing has changed with your company. It can even give the impression that you’re out of business! It’s important to show you have a “vibrant and active business.”

Provide free, helpful information to your customers. There’s nothing like a kind gesture to secure loyalty. It costs you nothing but a short moment of your time to provide helpful tips, hints and other information that can make the days of your customers that much better. Even if you don’t sell what your customer is looking for, chances are he or she will be back if you provide honest advice that is of assistance.

Offer your noncompeting business customers a link exchange. You know the old saying, “scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours”. Yakal believes that this still works wonders. It’s so easy to add links to your website. If you do so in exchange for other company websites including links to your site, you’re bound to increase traffic. This, in turn, will help you to welcome new customers through your doors.

Use downtime for marketing. Most likely, you are always busy. But even the busiest of businesses have some type of downtime during the year. Yakal suggests you use this time very wisely. “When times are slow, keep employees busy contacting customers,” she advises, “Create e-mail marketing documents your employees can send to individual customers. Personal contact with customers gets results.”

Get a toll-free phone number. Believe it or not, this can make your company look a lot more professional. Not to mention, it allows you to expand the reach of your business as it allows customers from outside of your local area to contact you without worry of long distance charges. It will be worth the cost. And as Yakal points out, “the fees aren’t as high as you might think.”

Launch a blog on your site and update it daily. The power of blogging should never be understated. For years now, the Synergy Marketing Blog has been updated each business day of the week. It has helped us to increase traffic to our site while gaining us more likes on Facebook and most importantly, more interested customers. As Yakal points out, a blog that isn’t regularly updated screams “I don’t care”.

Use Facebook and Twitter. Not only was this point made in yesterday’s blog, but it’s brought up in nearly every list of marketing tips out there today. Remember, post pictures, ask questions and give your company a “human face”. Social media wasn’t meant for you to barrage your would-be customers with non-stop advertisement after advertisement.
