4 Ways To Market Your Business To Customers Overseas

Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 15.06.15 by John Meloche

Depositphotos_5368407_xsMany Canadian business owners are very proud to be Canadian. Why wouldn’t they be? But some are so proud of their maple leaf-laden roots that they refuse to sell to Canadians only. Instead, they love the opportunity to distribute their Canadian-made goods and services to customers from all over the world. In today’s world, being able to market your business as an international entity requires a strong website. But it also requires some smart marketing.

Here are four ways to market your business to customers overseas:

1. Promote a “Made In Canada” campaign. It’s no secret that Canada has established quite the rapport with countries all over the world. If you’re looking to cash in on our nation’s stellar reputation, it won’t hurt you to run a “Made In Canada” campaign on your website. You may even want to offer special shipping discounts to overseas orders of two or more of your products in order to encourage more sales.

2. Be able to communicate in other languages. This task may seem a bit difficult. But, keep in mind that we’re not exactly telling you that you need to learn a new language. Instead, you may want to consider having your website translated into the world’s most popular languages. That way, people from non-English speaking nations will be encouraged to visit your website and learn more about your business.

“Having your site translated into other languages is a huge advantage to marketing to an international audience, but having a deep understanding of your own and other’s cultures is also important,” writes Erica Swallow on Mashable.com, “The first step to improving cross-cultural competency is understanding the cultural barriers within which you and others in your business operate.”

3. Become noticeable at tourist spots. Canada welcomes tourists from all over the world all year round. So it pays to find ways to get those visitors information about your business while they are here. Where do tourists visit when they’re in your hometown? Find ways to get your flyers, pamphlets and posters in those areas. On the UK-based Marketing Donut website, this tip is communicated.

“If you print them, they will come,” states the site, “Brochures, leaflets and cards can be left at bureaus in airports, seaports and major rail termini — anywhere tourists pass through or congregate. Tourist information centres, found in every major town and city in the UK, are obvious places to advertise your business’ unique British selling point.” The same thing can certainly work for Canadian businesses.

4. Research cultural perceptions. It’s important to keep in mind that every country in the world has its own perception of colours and images. Perhaps, changing up the colours and images on your site to convey certain messages to your international audience is in order. “Colours and symbols are deeply ingrained in cultures; research perceptions of colours and symbols among your target audience and adapt accordingly,” advises Swallow.

She goes on to explain that “in most of Europe and the Americas, for example, white is associated with purity and marriage. In Japan, China and parts of Africa, though, white is traditionally the color of mourning. But don’t be fooled — in Westernized Asian cities, white weddings are becoming more common. Beyond colours, make sure any icons, logos or graphics you are using are acceptable and looked upon in good light in areas you wish to reach.”

4 Creative Ways To Use Your Promotional Gifts

Posted in Promotional Products on 24.04.15 by John Meloche

bling-pen-large-logo-group-rev-1024x1269Promo gifts are great. They help business owners advertise their companies in very cost-efficient and effective ways. Readers of the Synergy Marketing Blog are very well aware of the many benefits that promo gifts provide. Just yesterday, we unveiled some statistics that found Canada to be the second highest user of promo gifts in the whole world! Evidently, Canadian entrepreneurs know the value of a good promo gift.

At Synergy Marketing, we’ve learned that it’s not just the high quality of our gifts that do the trick. We often discuss, with our clients, the many different marketing strategies that they can use to give their promo gifts more power. For example, they can hold contests using the promo gifts as prizes. This doesn’t just make use of promo gifts as regular gifts. It positions the business to attract new customers through a fun and interactive method.

On Nebs.ca, it is noted that there are many interesting and effective ways to utilize promotional products. “Try to pick a time that ties in with something directly related to your business – like an anniversary, open house, or the launch of a new product or service,” advises the website. Tying in your giveaway to something “bigger” is a great way to generate more interest in your brand.

Here are four creative ways to use your promotional gifts:

1. To reinforce early orders and early payments. Promo gifts are often used as ways of saying “thank you”. In this case, Nebs.ca is highlighting the importance of showing appreciation to those who can be relied upon to own up to their end of the bargain. “For instance, send a pen to customers who consistently pay once a bill arrives,” recommends the website. It never hurts to give thanks.

Check out our pens HERE!

2. To thank customers for their business. Speaking of giving thanks, there’s no reason to not offer it to each of your customers just for doing business with you. It’s a nice gesture that can go a long way. Especially because promo gifts are useful, the gesture will be received as one that adds great value to the interaction. “For example, bicycle dealers may want to give out free water bottles with the purchase of every bicycle and auto repair shops may include floor mats with every service job,” suggests Nebs.ca.

3. To support community events, sport teams and educational programs. Giving back to the community is always a good idea. “Instead of giving money to your town’s summer festival for instance, try donating Frisbee® Discs imprinted with your logo,” advises Nebs.ca, “Or donate balloons to the high school graduation ceremonies as a way of showing your company’s pride in students’ accomplishments.”

4. To recognize employees for their hard work and length of service to your company. Boosting employee morale should be a part of your everyday tasks. Your company is only as strong as the people you have hired to represent it. “Remember, employees who feel good about your company may do a better job with customers,” says the website. It’s just as important to thank your staff members as it is to thank your customers.

“Used creatively, promotional products can help differentiate your company from the competition, build relationships with current customers, and attract new business,” reads Nebs.ca, “They can also create feelings of goodwill and encourage the word-of-mouth your company relies on for new business.” To get your hands on some excellent promotional products for your business, call Synergy Marketing at 1-877-748-9884 today!

5 Reasons To Revamp Your Company Website

Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 20.02.15 by John Meloche

computer keyboard image prepared for the update, rasterAs you’re likely well aware, the Synergy Marketing website received quite a facelift this week. As we reported in our blog yesterday, the new site presents our brand in what we feel is a sleeker and more professional light. Company growth is just one of the many reasons that a company website should change. It makes sense to communicate that growth by the ways in which you present your brand to the general public.

Because Synergy Marketing continues to grow its client base, we knew that it was time to display our “ever-growing” status. And we have you to thank for that! To the many business owners throughout Canada who take advantage of our fantastic promotional products to advertise their companies, we are truly grateful. We are confident that your promo gifts will help for your business to grow quite significantly.

And when it does, perhaps revamping your company website would be the next logical step. According to Jessica Hill of HubSpot.com, “these days, your audience’s first impression of your business is based almost exclusively on your website … so redesigning your website isn’t a task to take lightly. It requires a good deal of thought, time, and potentially money, but the upside can be enormous.” Here are five reasons to revamp your company website.

1. You want better results. Is your current website communicating the right message about your brand? It may look unbelievably appealing and professional, but if it’s not bringing you the results you want, a change is likely needed. Hill notes that your site should include ways to convert visitors into leads and customers. Consider the image that your website presents of your business and ask yourself if it is truly representative of your brand. Make changes accordingly.

2. You want it to work better. Have you ever visited a website and found that certain links simply aren’t functional? Do the pages take forever to load? If your site isn’t working properly, there’s a definite need for an upgrade. “Functionality should be a paramount focus for you — if it’s not, your traffic and lead gen efforts could suffer,” writes Hill. It’s important that navigating your site isn’t a confusing process. You don’t want your important content to be hard to find.

3. You want it to be mobile friendly. According to Hill, “more than 17% of all web traffic comes from mobile devices.” And, to be honest, we wouldn’t be surprised if that number is actually a bit higher. It seems as if everyone with a smart phone these days uses it to surf the net. It’s important that your site is compatible with such devices. “Mobile users have made it clear they want to have a great UX (user experience) on their devices — the same ones they have on desktops,” Hill reports.

4. You want to incorporate better content. With so many websites on the internet – they’re practically countless – your website has some stiff competition. The more informative, interesting and relevant content your site has, the more likely it is to be picked up in search engines. “Having fantastic content on your site can improve everything from customer retention to SEO,” says Hills. If your site doesn’t have a regularly updated blog, it’s time to get one going!

5. You want to outdo your competitors. Take a look at your competition’s websites. How does it look? How functional is it? Is it mobile friendly? Is it easy to navigate? Does it have a blog? Now go and make your website better! “If you spend some time on a competitor’s site and realize it could meet your goals far better than your own site does, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and get busy,” insists Hill.

Take a look at the many great promo gifts we have displayed on our new website and be sure to give Synergy Marketing at call at 1-877-748-9884 to order the gifts of your choice today!

6 More Ways To Increase Likes On Your Facebook Page

Posted in Social Media on 13.01.15 by John Meloche

logo FacebookIn yesterday’s blog, we began to do a little bit of bragging about how we finally reached over 100 likes on our Facebook profile. Now, don’t get us wrong. We know that 100 likes isn’t a whole lot when compared to many other profiles. But reaching this milestone has helped us to realize just how powerful marketing our brand online can be. As you’re likely aware, we often blog about online marketing. And we’re happy that practicing what we preach is paying off!

It can pay off for you too. If you’re yet to establish yourself on Facebook, keep in mind that it is free to set up a profile. These days, people enjoy using social media practically more than any other communication method to both gain information and spread the word about their own interests. There’s no reason why social networking on platforms such as Facebook won’t work wonders for your business as well. Here are six more ways to increase likes for your page.

1. Add social plugins to your website. Your company website should clearly provide a pathway to your Facebook profile – much the same way that profile should provide a link to your website. On Meltwater.com, Robert Rydefalk writes that “Visitors on your website should be able to find your Facebook Page easily. My recommendation is to use Facebook’s Social Plugins, like the Like box plugin, to get more Facebook likes.”

2. Comment (thoughtfully) on other pages as your page. It’s always important to remember that using social media wisely means that you are being social. It’s not all about what’s happening on your page. It’s about interacting with others by commenting on their pages as well. Every comment you post creates a link back to your page. “Use Facebook as your business the same way you use it personally: by interacting and having conversations as your Page,” recommends Andrea Vahl on SocialMediaExaminer.com.

3. Run a contest. Is it ever a bad idea to run a contest? We’ve found this tip on more business marketing advice articles than nearly any other suggestion. And it works perfectly for Facebook too! Rydefalk warns, however, that there is a technique to doing it right. “Your contest must use a Facebook app, which allows you to create a fan-gate, so that only those who first like your page can participate in the contest,” he advises, “Apps also have a unique URL, so you can promote your contest with a Facebook ad and increase Facebook likes even more.”

4. Add a QR code to your business card. You know that strange little square thingies that you’re seeing on nearly everything these days? Yes, those. Scanning them on your smartphone gives you direct access to a website. “How many business cards do you give out?” asks Vahl, “Make it easy for the people you have connected with in person to connect with your Page. Creating a QR code is easy and free at sites like Kaywa and QRStuff.”

5. Be active. Having a Facebook profile is one thing. Keeping it regularly updated is another. Rydefalk writes that there is no “magic number” when it comes to how many posts you can place on your page. However, it’s important to post at least one status per day. You don’t want your audience to forget about you or assume that there’s nothing special happening with your brand. “People are unlikely to like your Facebook page if you don’t post regularly,” he warns.

6. Advertise your page on Facebook. Yes, using Facebook is free. But there are options that you can pay for that will increase awareness about your brand. “Today there are many options for advertising on Facebook,” informs Vahl, “To get the best value for generating new likes for your Page, I would suggest you use a Sponsored Like Story. This will advertise your Page to friends of your current fans and give social proof in the ad by showcasing that the user’s friend likes your Page.”

At Synergy Marketing, we’re very happy to have cracked our 100 likes mark. But we still love nothing more than speaking directly to our customers about our awesome catalogue of promotional gifts. To learn more or to place your order, call us at 1-877-748-9884 today!

6 Tips To Help Better Your Business

Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 15.10.14 by John Meloche

winner 6Running a business is hard work. And no matter how long you’ve been a business owner, there are always new things that you can learn. As times change, so do the needs of your customers. So it’s important to be up on the latest trends within your industry. At Synergy Marketing, we strive to help for business owners to market their companies in ways that build upon their customers’ senses of loyalty.

Our promo gifts have proven to be great ways to develop and maintain strong customer relationships. Our experience has taught us, however, to be successful in any industry, a business owner must possess a certain number of traits. It takes more than just promoting a business for it to be deemed one that is successful. On the Reader’s Digest website, a list of tips is provided to help business owners improve their businesses. In today’s blog, we’ll review the first six.

1. Be a more efficient time manager by using the rule of two. “Focus on the two most important tasks in your day, and you’ll become more productive,” reads the site. A great piece of advice, it speaks to the fact that many of our nation’s entrepreneurs are overwhelmed by the amount of work that they have to complete on any given day. The key is to focus in order to be sure that each task gets checked off the list one by one.

2. Start a filing system and toss everything you don’t need. “Eliminating will make it easier to locate the important papers,” says Reader’s Digest. De-cluttering is such a good idea. This is why so many companies have moved to paperless environments. A type of “hoarding” ensues when one doesn’t throw out papers that are no longer needed. The neater you keep your work area, the more organized your mind will be.

3. Limit your work-starting routine to 15 minutes. Too often, business owners and their employees alike start their work days by getting “getting coffee, settling in, reading e-mails, checking messages, or looking at newspapers”, the website reminds us. Because “you are often at your freshest and most productive at the beginning of the day,” you want to avoid the habit of wasting the majority of your morning with tasks that are unproductive.

4. Write two to-do lists. The key to good organization is to write things down. Many times, when we do not, we simply forget them. Again, this has everything to do with staying focused. According to Reader’s Digest, the first to-do list “should contain everything that you need to get done soon” and “the second to-do list should be what you can reasonably expect to get done today, and today only.”

5. Take a few moments to assess the day’s emotional challenges. Part of what makes running a business so hard is that the overwhelming responsibilities that come with it can really get to a person emotionally. It’s important to be prepared each day, says the website. That includes being ready to handle “tough phone calls, boring meetings, challenging customers, frustrating red tape, infuriating rush-hour drives, droning detail work, and other challenges you may face.”

6. Visualize your day. “Try starting each day by closing your eyes for 10 or 20 seconds and visualizing how you want it to go,” Reader’s Digest suggests. It’s important to take mini-breaks here and there, as well. The last thing you want is to burn yourself out. Make sure that you see the finish line of your day at the very beginning and know all of the tasks that need to be completed in order to get there.

Be sure to check back for tomorrow’s blog as we continue our look at ways to improve your business.

5 Things Your Promo Gifts Say About Your Brand

Posted in Promotional Products on 10.10.14 by John Meloche

keychain-132x132Giving out promotional gifts does so much more than simply just promote your business. Of course, at Synergy Marketing, we believe that promo gifts are the best ways to grow your brand. And that’s mainly because of their multi-purposefulness. You see, a promo gift is not just some average commercial. For starters, it serves as a direct link between you and its recipient. They go a lot further than your everyday print ad or radio spot because of the personal connections they make.

Consider what you do when you are handed a business card or a flyer. Chances are you take one look at it and if you are disinterested, it gets tossed. Promo gifts, on the other hand, most often stay with they’re recipients because they are actually useful. When you pass along something handy, it has a much bigger impact on the person who receives it. The handing out of promotional products says a lot about your business. Here are five of the best things.

1. You’re appreciative. Promo gifts have long been used as symbols of thanks. Sure, you could always utter the words “thank you” to your customers. And, in fact, we highly recommend it. But handing out a promo gift as a symbol of your appreciation of your customers’ support is a great way to secure that support for the long haul. We have very often heard from our clients that promo gifts work wonders in the “building loyalty” department.

2. You’re helpful. One of the best aspects about promo gifts is that they come in handy. They are useful items that can be used time and time again. So when you hand out a promo gift, you’re doing a lot more than just saying “thank you”. You’re offering regular assistance to people who need it. Consider the benefit of having an extra pen on hand. Think about how much easier you’ve made a person’s life when he or she has a flashlight in an emergency situation.

3. You’re innovative. Promo gifts set you apart. They show that you’re willing to go a bit over and beyond the call of duty to strengthen the relationships between you and your customers. When other companies are handing out flyers and you are handing out key chains, sunglasses and water bottles, you present a completely different impression of your brand. What a great way to outshine your competition!

4. You’re professional. When you hand out promo gifts to your customers, it shows your commitment to your business. You’re not willing to settle for run-of-the-mill advertising campaigns without allowing your customers to immediately benefit from them. Having your company name and logo plastered over a useful, high-quality item says a lot about the professionalism of your brand. Your promo gift has the ability to increase your prestige.

5. You’re generous. At the end of the day, handing out a promo gift is a kind gesture. Bottom line, it’s a nice thing to do. Perhaps, it says a lot more about your character than it does about your business. People love getting things for free no matter what they are. And in a world where everyone seems to be out to make a buck, it’s refreshing to know that some things in life are free. Be the person who reaps the benefits of handing out free promo gifts.

Get your hands on the ideal promotional product to boost your business by calling Synergy Marketing at 1-877-748-9884 today! As you may know, we carry a wide range of promo gifts that suit the needs of every type of industry. By speaking to one of friendly and experienced sales reps, you will be assured that you select the perfect promo gift for your brand. We look forward to speaking to you soon!

Synergy Marketing Goes The Dot-ca Way!

Posted in News on 24.03.14 by John Meloche

Canada internet domainYou may have noticed that the Synergy Marketing website has gone through a bit of change recently. Yes, it’s a small change. Perhaps, so small you haven’t even noticed it. But, in the scheme of things, this change is actually making quite a big statement! Our website has changed from a dot-com to a dot-ca. And you may be wondering what the big deal is about such a change.

As Brian Jackson writes on ItBusiness.ca, a dot-ca website is intrinsically Canadian. He explains that “since its birth in 1987, the dot-ca domain has clawed its way to the 17th largest domain type on the Web.” He went on to discuss how the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA) is heavily promoting to Canadian business owners the need to have dot-ca web addresses to boost their market share in Canada.

“I think Canadians like to do business with Canadians,” says CIRA president, Byron Holland, “The likelihood of people who are behind dot-cas doing nefarious things is a lot less so than others.” Referring to security measures that one must go through in order to register a dot-ca web address, Holland notes that having such a website lends credibility to any Canadian business.

As well, Canadians already seem to feel an affinity for dot-ca websites. According to a 2005 Statistics Canada survey, three quarters of Canadians prefer to shop on these Canadian-based sites. Jackson writes that “of every $100 spent online by Canadians, $63 was spent with Canadian vendors. That’s a healthy slice of a $5 billion pie that Canadian consumers spent online in 2005.”

A dot-com website is generally considered more popular, but is tied mainly into American entities, Jackson also points out. As a result, there are ample opportunities for Canadian business owners to “scoop up” dot-ca domain names. And they are rapidly growing in popularity! At Synergy Marketing, we’re certainly hoping to expand our reach throughout Canada with our new domain name.

After all, servicing Canadian business owners is what we do. We’re very proud to be a Canadian brand and even prouder to be helping companies all across Canada grow their brands. And as the CIRA website points out, “a .CA domain name makes you or your company instantly recognizable as Canadian to Internet users around the world.” The site also lists a number of other benefits to choosing such a domain name.

It’s important to Canadian consumers, says CIRA. “89 per cent of Canadian Internet users think it is important for Canadians to have a .CA domain name,” the site reads. Canadian shoppers tend to prefer shopping Canadian, as well as doing their banking, getting their news and consuming entertainment through homegrown websites. According to CIRA, “a .CA domain name is the Canadian flag on your digital backpack. The respect our country enjoys internationally is reflected in your .CA domain name.”

Add that to the fact that “Canadians live online”, and you realize that to be successful in Canada, you practically need to wave the Canadian flag through your domain name. Well, Synergy Marketing now proudly boasts a dot-ca domain name. You can now log on to TheBestPromoProducts.ca for all of your promotional product needs. But, don’t forget that you can always call us up at 1-877-748-9884 to order the gifts of your choice.
