In 2016, we hope to enjoy a continued growth of our relationships with our customers and also an ongoing ability to claim that we are helping small businesses to grow all across this great country of ours. Here are just a couple of suggestions for you to consider in 2016:

USB Car Chargers. In 2016, one trend that is sure to continue is the frequent use of the smartphone. As a result, people will always need places to charge their phones. The thing is, people regularly forget their chargers at home. Our new USB Car Chargers are excellent gifts for just about everyone who has a smartphone – and that’s just about everyone! At only $4.50 each, they make very affordable ways to advertise your brand name.

Wrap Around Earmuffs. These promo gifts not only make for the perfect wintertime advertisements, but they are arguably the best kind of promo gift you can hand out. Why? When your customers wear these earmuffs, they become walking billboards for your brand. Wherever they go wearing them this winter, people will know of your company. Not to mention, they’re awesome!

They are adjustable click-to-fit earmuffs that are made with soft fleece fabric. They also happen to be water resistant and seam sealed so that moisture and wind is kept out. As well, they can be folded up for easy storage. The price includes the printing of your company logo on both the left and right sides of the earmuffs. At only $19.95 each, the Wrap Around Earmuffs make the ideal new year hand out!

The Synergy Marketing offices will only be open for a short time today and then we close until the new year. Please feel free to give us a quick call at 1-877-748-9884 to discuss the promotional gifts that we can get to you in the new year to help make it your best one yet. The Power Of The Promo Gift During The Holidays

Posted in Promotional Products on 16.12.15 by John Meloche

SLR-001-500x500-1024x1269Okay, Canada. You have a solid week and a half of holiday shopping still left to do. And that means that business owners everywhere still have plenty of time to turn their new customers into loyal ones. As we’ve been discussing on the Synergy Marketing Blog for weeks, the holiday shopping season always gives business owners plenty of opportunities to grow their customer bases. It all comes down to how impressed people are when they visit your store.

For many years, promotional gifts have impressed the socks off of Canadian customers. Especially during the holiday season, when people are in the spirit of giving, the act of giving a promotional gift to a shopper is most often met with great appreciation. As we’ve often asked, who doesn’t like getting something for free? Over the course of the next couple of weeks, you’ll definitely want to take advantage of a promo gift campaign.

On Shopify.ca, Shilpi Tomar asserts that the busy holiday shopping season is the perfect time of year for small businesses to use personal approaches to business advertising. She notes that larger retailers put a lot of money into their advertising campaigns, making it seemingly hard to compete. This is where promo gifts give smaller businesses a competitive edge. They help to develop personal bonds with their customers.

“The National Retail Federation predicts holiday sales to increase 4.1% (to $616.9 billion) this year, a full percentage higher from last year,” she writes in an article from 2014, “With a huge opportunity for profit, large retailers are fighting tooth and nail for consumers to spend their holiday budgets on their businesses…To take on larger retailers who are looking to win over shoppers with low prices and free shipping, as a small and medium-sized business, you can turn to more personalized and creative ways to promote your store on a budget.”

The personal approach, it should be reiterated, is one of the best ways to compete with bigger businesses. Usually, larger corporations are simply too big to take the time to get to know each of their customers personally. When you hand promo gifts to your customers, it allows you the opportunity to learn names, likes and dislikes as well as other information that will help you to cater to their needs in the future.

With this, you can establish a relationship that turns into loyal patronage. Keep in mind that promo gifts are a lot more than simple advertisements for your company. They are handy and useful items that can come into play in the lives of your customers on a daily basis. Consider the power that a key chain, pen, flashlight or water bottle that bears your company name and logo can have.

At Synergy Marketing, our many years of experience tell us that it’s well worth it to invest in promotional products to advertise your business. It’s important to remember, as well, that when compared to traditional modes of advertising (television commercials, radio spots, prints ads, billboards), promo gifts are so much cheaper! It’s hard to beat an advertising strategy that has proven to be very effective and cost-efficient at the same time.

If you are not yet handing out promo products to advertise your company, there is no better time than now to get started. Contact Synergy Marketing today to discuss the promo gift that would best advertise your brand. We have so many to choose from! Simply call us at 1-877-748-9884!

4 More Ways To Boost Retail Sales During The Holidays

Posted in Small Business Advertising, Synergy Suggestions on 15.12.15 by John Meloche

Beautiful happy christmas girl with shoping bags.In yesterday’s blog, we revisited the concept of holiday shopping and just how busy retail stores in Canada are right now. As the owner of a retail store, however, you can’t take for granted that sales will increase just because it’s the busy holiday shopping season. As we mentioned yesterday, there are some ways to encourage holiday shopping at your store. In today’s blog, we’ll explore a few more.

Here are four more ways to boost retail sales during the holidays:

1. Make sure your important orders are delivered on time. During the busy holiday season, customers aren’t just looking for popular items. They’re looking to have those popular items delivered on time. In the many cases when such items have to be ordered, it’s your job to ensure that they will arrive in your store by the time you promise. Late deliveries are easy ways to frustrate customers to the point where you lose them for good.

On Retailers.com, Bob Negen insists that you always know the status of your important orders. “If that huge order of your most popular thing-a-ma-bob isn’t coming in on time and you don’t make adjustments, it’s going to cost you, and maybe cost you big,” he warns, “Don’t take any chances that your best sellers didn’t make it to the warehouse in time for this years’ holiday season. Be proactive!”

2. Showcase the usefulness of your products. Just because your products look good doesn’t mean that they’re good for your customers. That is, of course, unless you demonstrate just how good they are! Set up an area of your store where you or your employees can demonstrate the awesomeness of the products you sell. Offer discounts to customers who purchase the item directly after the demonstration.

On SpecialtyRetail.com, Nancy Tanker highly advocates for the demonstration. “Most products can be demonstrated and demonstrations do increase sales-if they’re done right,” she writes, “Train your employees on how to run a proper demonstration. Don’t leave it up to them to develop a strong demo pitch. If you want the most sales possible, you need to give your employees a selling road map to follow.”

3. Create an enjoyable atmosphere. Getting customers through the doors of your store is the first step to boosting sales. You can encourage more visitors if you make your store a fun place to visit. Not only should it be decorated in a festive way, but it should also be an interactive place where people have fun. That way, you’ll keep customers in your store longer, giving you more opportunities to sell to them.

Negen advises that retail store owners make shopping fun for their customers, and shares an idea of how to do so. “Fun sells, especially during the holidays,” he asserts, “It doesn’t have to be hard, or fancy. Have a ‘guess the number of candy canes in the big glass bowl contest’ or something of the sort. Let your imagination run wild; get into the spirit of the season!”

4. Keep hiring talented staff members. “Experienced retailers hire throughout the entire holiday season,” says Tanker, “They know that to keep your employee pipeline humming, you must be continually hiring. Use an employee-referral system that rewards your current employees for referring anyone subsequently hired.”

4 Ways To Encourage Holiday Shopping At Your Store

Posted in Small Business Advertising, Synergy Suggestions on 14.12.15 by John Meloche

Happy young woman in Santa hat holding shopping bagsThere are less than a couple of weeks left until the big day! So, you know that Canadians will be flooding the malls between now and Christmas to get their hands on all of the gifts that are on their wish lists. The holiday season is undoubtedly a very busy time for retailers. But it’s important for retail business owners to not simply assume that foot traffic will automatically increase. They have to advertise the fact that customers are welcome to do their holiday shopping in their stores.

Here are four ways to do that:

1. Inform your customers about your most popular items. Many holiday shoppers don’t even have wish lists. Instead, they pop in and out of various stores hoping to find items that they believe their loved ones will like. Make sure that your staff is informing your customers about some of the most popular items you have for sale and be sure to let them know how and why their loved ones would enjoy them.

On Retailers.com, Bog Negen explains that one of the top ways to boost sales during the holiday season is to attempt to add on to every sale that you make. “Pick an item or two with high margins and universal appeal,” he recommends, “Then get everyone on your staff to ask every single customer if they would like one. This simple act will generate thousands of dollars in sales.”

2. Go heavy on social media advertising. Everyone knows that we’re living in an era of very high internet use. For the most part, people are figuring out what they want to buy by going online to learn more about what’s for sale, before they head into the stores. Make sure that your business has a high internet presence over the next two weeks. Use your social media accounts to promote what you have for sale.

On AabacoSmallBusiness.com, Gabriel Shaoolian agrees that a social media advertising campaign is necessary during the holidays. “Design a creative image for a Facebook post that is both visually eye-catching and also clearly articulates the details of your sale,” he suggests, “If your holiday sale offers free shipping to your customers, make sure your image has ‘FREE SHIPPING’ in large type so that users can’t miss it. Images like these are more likely to trigger interaction and sharing.”

3. Be sure to have enough inventory. This is certainly not the time of year to be disappointing customers. If you are advertising certain products, be sure to have them in stock. It’s possible that you’ll run out if sales are high. And that’s obviously a good thing. But it’s important to be able to restock your items daily and give out guaranteed rain checks, if necessary, so that your customers don’t go elsewhere to get what they’re looking for.

“You’ll want to have four to five times as much product as you expect in sales for the season,” insists Nancy Tanker on SpecialtyRetail.com, “Keep your backstock handy and your display fully stocked. Create the desire to buy with an abundance of product choices so your customers can each find something to buy that speaks to them.”

4. Get into the spirit of giving. As is obvious, shoppers are looking for bargains right now. And it doesn’t get any better than free! Take advantage of all of that extra foot traffic and do your part to encourage it to continue well into the new year. Handing out free gifts is a great way to impress your customers to a point where they’ll want to do business with you again. Call Synergy Marketing at 1-877-748-9884 to order the promotional gift of your choice today!

4 Ways To Entice More Visitors To Your Restaurant

Posted in Small Business Advertising, Synergy Suggestions on 11.12.15 by John Meloche

Celebration. Hands holding the glasses of champagne and wine making a toast. In yesterday’s blog, we visited the subject of promoting your restaurant business during the holiday season. Obviously, this is the time of year when there are more people out and about than usual. Holiday shopping breeds hungry customers. But, as we mentioned, it isn’t wise to automatically assume that those hungry customers will be lining up to eat at your establishment. What can you do to entice more visitors?

Here are four more ideas:

1. Create a festive atmosphere. As a restaurant owner, you’re well aware that people don’t just visit restaurants for the food. Most enjoy eating in environments that are warm, cozy and exciting. The atmosphere aspect of a restaurant can make all the difference in the world. No matter how good your food is, no one likes eating in places that don’t invoke feelings of fun and relaxation.

During the holiday season, this is especially important. Decorate! Make your restaurant look like the most fun place to be this month! Buzztime.com advises that you create a sense of warmth and coziness through you décor. “Give your guests a respite from the cold with added touches, such as cranking up the fireplace, serving hot cocoa and eggnog and sprucing up your interior with holiday lights and decorations,” suggests the website.

2. Get your staff in a festive mood. Customer service is everything. This is true whether it’s the holiday season or not. But if you really want your customers to enjoy their time spent in your restaurant this month, your staff members will need to be in a “holly jolly” spirit. Be sure to go over what you expect from them in terms of customer interaction. But, also make sure that they’re well-versed on all of the dishes you offer.

“Your back-of-house team obviously needs to be aware of menu changes so they can execute the new dishes properly, but don’t forget to train your front-of-house staff — especially servers — on the updates, as well,” says Linda Hays on RewardsNetwork.com, “The best way to get everyone on board, and sprinkle in some team building, is by hosting an all-employee tasting. As the front-line marketers for your menu, your servers need to know every detail about the new dishes they’ll be recommending to your customers”

3. Offer special discounts on meals. Obviously, people are spending more money these days than they are at any other point in the year. If they’re able to save money at your restaurant, they will be a lot more inclined to eat there. Consider offering discounts on special dishes or adding appetizers to meals at minimum costs. There’s no customer out there who isn’t interested in getting a deal right now!

“The holiday season is an expensive time for most consumers, so they will likely be paying extra attention to how much they spend on dining out, especially after all of the holiday fanfare has passed,” says Buzztime.com, “Think about ways to help your customers save a few bucks without it negatively impacting your restaurant’s profits.”

4. Hand out promo gifts. As you know, this is something that Synergy Marketing champions all year long. However, there is no better time than the holiday season to give out gifts to your customers. They serve as excellent reminders of where to shop – and, in your case, eat! Promo gifts have long been known to encourage repeat business, garner referrals and increase sales. Call Synergy Marketing at 1-877-748-9884 to order yours today!

3 Ways To Promote Your Restaurant This Holiday Season

Posted in Small Business Advertising, Synergy Suggestions on 10.12.15 by John Meloche

Group of friends having fun in a sport bar and raising hands, very cheerful.Every holiday season brings about numerous reasons to celebrate. Of course, this holiday season is no different. And, as a result, many businesses are enjoying the benefits that come with their customers wanting to celebrate the holidays. Restaurant owners are especially aware of this. Between the various Christmas parties and other get-togethers that are commonplace during this time of year, people need venues to partake in the festivities.

Restaurants are the obvious go-to choices for such events as they are able to cater to many people at a time, provide food and drink and festive atmospheres. If you’re a restaurant owner, you’re certainly in the money right now. Or are you? Not all restaurant owners can take for granted that business automatically picks up in December. It’s up to them to come up with ways to promote their restaurants during the busy holiday season.

Here are three:

1. Cater to takeout customers. Not every customer is looking to use your restaurant as a location for a holiday party. Many of them simply want to satisfy the hungry bellies of their loved ones at home. As a result, your restaurant should make clear to its customers that takeout is available. It’s a great way to drive up sales and ensure that your customers keep coming back when the holidays are over.

Buzztime.com certainly recommends this. “With shorter days, long work weeks and the challenges that cold weather brings, many hungry consumers opt for the comfort and convenience of takeout,” says the website, “Cater to them by offering curbside takeout service or home delivery. You may also consider offering customers the ability to place their orders and pay for the bill right from your website or Facebook page.”

2. Offer seasonal dishes. People seem to love meals that are associated with the holidays. Even if you add a little something different to the dishes you already serve, giving them that “holiday flair” will give your customers more reasons to order them. On RewardsNetwork.com, Linda Hays reveals that “59 percent of consumers say they’re more likely to purchase an item on a restaurant menu if it’s described as ‘seasonal’.”

“When your business model includes seasonal menu updates, marketing your restaurant and boosting your brand awareness becomes much more straightforward,” she informs us, “Build up anticipation for your new menu launch with a series of teasers posted across all your social media platforms. Then, when you make the big release announcement, include links to and pictures of dishes from the new menu with every post.”

3. Cater to busy holiday shoppers. Remember that people are shopping like crazy right now. And that means they’re working up quite the appetites. This is especially true during lunch hours when people are taking breaks from work to quickly shop and eat. Give such customers incentives to visit your establishment over the others. This will require a marketing campaign that advertises your special holiday deals.

“Give your customers every reason to dine at your restaurant during the holiday season,” insists Buzztime.com, “For instance, offer holiday lunch specials that appeal to busy holiday shoppers on the go, and remember to make the most out of your banquet space for large groups or company parties.” Be sure to check back for tomorrow’s blog as we continue to explore ideas for how you can boost business at your restaurant this holiday season!

3 Ways To Please Everybody With Your Decorations

Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 17.11.15 by John Meloche

Christmas Ornament In Front Of Businessman Working At DeskIn yesterday’s blog, we touched upon the subject of office decorations during the holiday season. It’s a good idea, no doubt. Boosting employee morale can easily be done when your staff members are able to come to work each day to a vibrantly-decorated place of business. However, as we pointed out yesterday, it’s important to be mindful of different traditions. It’s also important to ensure the safety of your staff when decorating your office.

On Care2.com, Linda Merrill writes that holiday decorations in the office can cause problems. She cites a 2006 International Facilities Management Association (IFMA) survey of employees that found that “25 percent reported problems related to the decorations and 85 percent of the complaints led to policy changes.” So how can you decorate your office space in a way that pleases everybody?

Here are three ways:

1. Allow employees freedom with their personal spaces. This may not apply to all businesses, but for those where employees have their own offices or cubicles, feel free to allow them to decorate as they please. As long as the workspace is not impeded by the decorations and that a “business as usual” environment is maintained, it can be great for employee morale if they are allowed their own freedom of expression.

“Consensus seems to be that for employees who wish to decorate their personal spaces they do so on their own time, such as before or after work or during a lunch break and it should not impose on their neighbours in any way,” reports Merrill, “Truly religious symbols such as a nativity scene should be kept small and unobtrusive, for the owner only. On the other hand, more common decorations such as garlands are more generally appropriate for all because they represent a more commercialized aspect of the holiday.”

2. Start a food drive. This is a hugely important holiday tradition that should garner the involvement of all employees, no matter what traditions they acknowledge. Having a station set up for the collection of non-perishable foods in your office is arguably the best possible “decoration” you can set up. AllBusiness.com strongly recommends that you share the “true spirit” of the season in this way.

“The holiday season is not only a time to celebrate, it is also a time to think of those less fortunate than ourselves,” says the site, “Bring the spirit of giving into your office by organizing a company food drive. Ask employees to bring in canned goods and other non-perishable food items to donate to a local shelter or other aid organization. Display the food items in a corner of the office where the growing pile will inspire employees to bring in their own contributions.”

3. Use your company’s promotional gifts. Who says that promo gifts can’t be used as decorations? The holiday season is a great time of year to help boost company pride. Place your promo gifts throughout the office and offer them as prizes to employees who are the most productive. Friendly competition never hurts. And when your staff members are given more opportunities to earn bonuses, it helps to drive competition.

At Synergy Marketing, we have a wide array of promo gifts to offer our customers. Water bottles, pens, flashlights, wine stoppers, key chains, knives, tools and so much more are available now! We even have a fantastic array of holiday gifts including our very popular Christmas Card and CD combo! Don’t hesitate to give us a call to order the promo gift of your choice today. 4 Tips For Decorating Your Place Of Business

Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 16.11.15 by John Meloche

Depositphotos_11312934_xsHaving high levels of employee morale at your place of business is hugely important. But, it can be argued that there is no time of year when employee morale is more important than right now. With the holidays quickly approaching, people naturally want to be in a good mood. But with the added stress of buying gifts – not to mention, serving all of those extra customers you have – this time of year can be pretty tough for your staff.

As a business owner, one of your main jobs is to keep your staff members energized on a regular basis. The holiday season presents you with a myriad of opportunities to do just that. And, one of the easiest ways to infuse your staff with positive energy is to decorate your office space in a festive way. It’s a simple and sensible solution to curing the holiday blues – if there are any going around. But what are the best ways to decorate your place of business?

Here are four tips:

1. Keep everyone in mind. Some people are put off by the “politically correct” method of saying “Happy Holidays” over “Merry Christmas”. It’s important, however, to remember that Christmas isn’t the only holiday being celebrated during this time of year. There are many Hanukkah and Kwanzaa traditions taking place as well. When decorating, be mindful of the various holidays taking place so that all members of your staff feel included.

That way, you can avoid problems. According to Linda Merrill on Care2.com, “the problems generally arise when there are differing opinions on what is appropriate and whose holiday is being celebrated. In most cases, we have adopted an ‘all in’ mentality – mixing Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa traditions, depending on the makeup of the office staff. In the best circumstances, this fosters a nice camaraderie between co-workers.”

2. Include nature as part of the decor. Not all decorations need to be made up of plastic. Store-bought decorations are great, but you may want to infuse a little bit of “fresh air” into your holiday festivities. As AllBusiness.com reminds us that, this time of year, “wintertime plants such as fir, pine, and holly make for beautiful decorative accents. Mini potted pine trees or varieties of poinsettias can be placed on desks or in common areas.”

3. Keep it safe. Decorating can be fun and coming to work every day to an office that is vibrant with holiday colours can be very encouraging. But, it’s important to keep it safe. Be mindful of the type of decorations you’re putting up and where they are being placed. You don’t want to create hazards by having items that can potentially cause injuries by falling on your employees or causing them to trip.

“Many organizations publish rules about what kinds of holiday displays are acceptable and what are not for safety reasons,” says Merrill, “For instance – all decorations should be flame retardant, there should be no lit candles and lights should be rated for indoor use. Walkways and exits shouldn’t be impeded by displays of Christmas trees or Frosty the Snowman and in general, decorations should not impede the daily flow of business.”

4. Use edible decorations. There’s nothing sweeter than the treats that are commonly associated with the holiday season. Don’t skimp on them! “Fill the office with edible décor,” insists AllBusiness.com, “Bowls and baskets of sweet treats throughout the office are a workplace tradition during the holidays.” The site warns, however, that you don’t want to overdo it on the bad-for-your-health stuff. Include seasonal fruits in your decor to promote better health.

Translucent Ice Scrapers. These are among our most popular promo gifts in the automotive industry. However, they don’t necessarily have to be made exclusive to auto mechanics and the like. Considering that we live in Canada and it is, after all, winter time, it will be pretty hard to go wrong with a promo gift that can help your customers rid their car windows of ice and snow all season long.

100% Acrylic Toque With Cuff. Speaking of the winter time, it will be pretty hard to convince anyone that it’s a good idea to go outside without a hat on. Our acrylic toques are perfect for any Canadian winter. Keep the heads of your customers warm while they promote your business for you all winter long. Another one of our excellent go-to promo gifts during this time of year, our toques are excellent traveling billboards for your brand!

500ml Water Bottle with Ice Stick. Some of you may be thinking passed the winter time when business resumes in 2015. And we can’t say that that’s a bad idea. Thinking ahead is always smart. Maybe hooking your customers up with some great water bottles for the summertime is a great way to get them thinking about your brand in a favourable light. After all, water bottles can be used all year round anyway!

Europa Sport Sunglasses. You forward-thinkers may also want to consider some cool shades to promote your business in 2015. Another year-round gift that helps for people to look forward to the days when the weather heats up, our Europa Sport Sunglasses are just one of four different sunglasses designs that we have available. 5 More Holly Jolly Holiday Marketing Tips

Posted in Social Media, Synergy Suggestions on 10.12.14 by John Meloche

Depositphotos_37546689_xsIn yesterday’s blog, we began to look at some holiday marketing tips provided by Wendy McCance on SearchingForTheHappiness.com. She notes that with just a few weeks left in 2014, the time is now to really push for more sales. After all, this is the time of year when business owners have the best opportunities to grow their client bases for the new year. Holiday shopping is at a fever pitch right now. Are you getting in on the action?

McCance really champions the use of social media in her article. At Synergy Marketing, we’re no strangers to the power of Facebook and Twitter. We have often blogged about it, but more importantly have utilized these social networking sites to plug our blogs and offer links to our website. No one knows, better than us, how important it is to be able to communicate with a client base on a daily basis.

It’s exactly what we’re experts at doing! And because of this, we know that Canadian business owners greatly benefit from giving out promotional gifts to their customers. As we mentioned yesterday (and many times before), people love to get things for free. But what else can you do to have a strong end to 2014? In today’s blog, we’ll round out McCance’s list of holly jolly holiday marketing tips.

1. Get the staff involved in something charitable. As we’ve said in previous blogs, getting involved in charity is always a win-win situation. And is there a better time of year than now to give back to those who are less fortunate? McCance suggests getting involved in a toy drive or packaging holiday food for those in need. It’s a great way to help others enjoy the holidays in ways that they wouldn’t otherwise be able to afford.

2. Run holiday email campaigns. As we’ve mentioned, McCance strongly believes in the power of the internet. And she doesn’t restrict her advice to the use of social media alone. Email newsletters have long worked to spread business news in a very economical way. “Offer FREE shipping, pre-wrapped gifts or discounted gift cards,” says McCance. This is bound to send some business your way that may have gone elsewhere.

3. Write a holiday article that you can post on your website. Well, here’s some advice that we obviously take ourselves! The majority of our blogs over the past month have been holiday-themed. Naturally, this time of year brings about a certain energy and excitement and it’s important for your company to reflect that in the content that it adds to its site. If you need help with blogging, you should look into hiring an experienced blogger.

4. Send out holiday cards the old-fashioned way. At Synergy Marketing, we strongly believe in handing out free gifts. But you knew that already.
