It’s that time of the year again. Dad’s anticipating a great day with the family meanwhile everyone else is shopping for a gift to buy. Father’s Day is a great holiday and like all great holidays that means shopping. A 2012 H&R study found that spending on Father’s Day was $9.4 billion. Father’s Day serves as a great opportunity for businesses to take advantage of the increased material demand and optimize their profits. Here are a few marketing ideas businesses can use to make their Father’s Day more memorable.

The most obvious promotional strategy would be discounts. Holidays are a great excuse for sales and discounts. This simple strategy can be extremely effective as nothing lures customers to a product like good prices. Not only that but these discounts can be easily applied to your whole store and thus can allow you to promote the inventory you want out of your store that much more.

Another great promotional strategy would be gift guides. Sometimes finding the perfect gift for your dad can be extremely hard. Why not make your customers’ shopping experiences that much easier by giving them a list of products that fathers are surely to love; making a list of products that are directly related to a father’s interests. Not only does this help your customer’s shopping experience but it also generates positive perceptions of your company and strengthens your brand. The fact that your company would go out of their way to make it easier for customers to shop, especially on a day such as Father’s Day, is appreciated.

This next strategy pertains more to a company’s online presence. Since Father’s Day is such a popular holiday it gets looked up a lot on search engines. Putting more Father’s Day material on your website will allow you to improve your SEO(Search Engine Optimization) and thus give you more opportunities to be seen via organic search. Not only is Father’s Day prominent on search engines, but it’s also a very notable holiday on social media. Using relevant Father’s Day hashtags in social media will allow you to effectively promote your posts and businesses.

Another strategy related to online presence is improving your company’s presence in the online marketplace. E-commerce is becoming more and more present in today’s shopping world. This is especially true on Father’s Day. Fundivo reported that almost 30% of all Father’s Day shopping last year was conducted online, an increase of almost 10% from 2010’s total (20.5%). This trend is only expected to continue so anticipate an expanded amount of E-commerce to take place this Father’s Day. Companies need to improve their E-commerce platforms and ensure that they allow for an easy ordering process for customers to follow online. This is a growing marketplace that you don’t want to miss out on.

It’s obvious that discounts are now not only the suitable promotional strategy. Today’s marketplace is changing and now more than ever there is an emphasis on digital transactions. If you truly want to make sure your Father’s Day is memorable then start by making sure the family can order those golf clubs that dad really wanted on your website.

3 Ways To Celebrate “Business Owner’s Day”

Posted in Small Business Advertising, Social Media on 22.06.15 by John Meloche

Portrait of a happy mature salesperson standing in front of electrical wire spool with arms crossed in hardware storeHere’s hoping you had an excellent Father’s Day! Speaking of which, as a business owner, doesn’t it sometimes feel like you’re a parent? Even if you don’t have kids, the responsibilities that you have towards your company pretty much put you in the position of caregiver. It’s your job to nurture your business so that it grows healthily. With that said, perhaps there should be a Business Owner’s Day to celebrate! There it is. We’ve decided. That’s today!

Happy Business Owner’s Day! Now, how do you plan on celebrating? Like most business owners, you’re probably thinking about ways to grow your company as you read this. Therefore, the best way to celebrate Business Owner’s Day is to find ways to grow your brand. As always, the Synergy Marketing Blog is your useful source of information, tips and tidbits.

So in celebration of you today, here are three ways to celebrate your business:

1. Step up your social media game. If you think you’ve seen this tip on our blog before, you’re not wrong. However, it bears repeating that social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter have pretty much become mandatory in today’s business world. Keep in mind that it’s important to actually socialize on social media, and not just advertise. Yes, this may sound like a tedious task – but history has proven that it will pay off.

On his website, entrepreneur Mike Michalowicz writes that using social media is one of the best marketing strategies for small business owners. “Social media is about connecting with the people in your niche: customers, potential customers, people who are interested in what you do, or who share similar interests and circles or hubs with you,” he writes, “It’s about building relationships and networking, not selling, although that does come as a result.”

2. Start up a loyalty program. Another tip that you’ve likely read on our blog in the past is that you should market to your current customers before you attempt to attract new ones. By showing your appreciation to the people who already support you, you put yourself in a position to secure long-lasting loyalty. Setting up a loyalty program can go a long way in making sure that your customers continue coming to you over your competition.

“Small retailers use frequency card or loyalty programs to build store traffic and visit frequency,” reports Rick Suttle on Chron.com, “The objective is to reward customers according to how much they purchase…Create a display that apprises shoppers about your frequency program. Keep applications near the display for customers to fill out. Have people fill out their name, address and email. Issue customers a card that will keep track of their purchases.”

3. Share your expertise with the world. Part of celebrating yourself and your accomplishments as a business owner is sharing what you’ve learned with others. If you can help others to learn from you, it will go a long way in securing a strong reputation. Keep in mind that many people prefer to buy products from companies they trust – not just companies who sell things that they like. Proving that you’re an expert in your field is bound to help grow your customer base.

Michalowicz certainly advocates for this advertising strategy. “Let the public know what you’re an expert at and use that to boost your credibility and value,” he advises, “Publish tips, share your expertise through public speaking, even try pitching the media…make it super easy for people to associate you and your business with excellence and expertise in your field.” Even though we just made it up, here’s hoping you enjoy an excellent “Business Owner’s Day”!
