5 Ways to Increase Your Reach Over Google+ Without Paying

Posted in Small Business Advertising, Social Media on 29.07.16 by John Meloche

To conclude social commerce week, we’re going to talk about a social media outlet that most people neglect. While Google+ isn’t exactly as well known as the previous 3 mediums that we’ve covered, it still boasts a large audience and contains many perks. According to DMR stats, Google+ has 300 million monthly active users. So there’s definitely a significant audience present and its connections with Google itself open up many SEO opportunities. Here are 5 ways you can increase your reach over Google+:

  1. Add People to Your Circle. The first step of developing a network is actually getting people to join your network. Adding a lot of people to your network also offers SEO benefits as well.
  2. Optimize your Posts. Speaking of SEO opportunities, a larger circle means you have higher chances of being recognized over Google searches. One of the greatest things about Google+ is the ability to come up on the first page of Google searches. How it works is that if someone from your circle searches something up on Google, and you’ve already written about it on your Google+ profile, then it will show up on the first page of their search. So if you add a lot of people to your circle, and post regularly about things people in your circle might look up, then your SEO will go through the roof!
  3. Create or Join Communities. Communities are like Google+’s version of Facebook groups. This allows you to optimize both the reach and selectivity of your social media efforts. You can join or create a group that features other people or businesses within your industry or potential clientele. It’s a great way to increase the effectiveness of your posts while at the same time developing relationships with potential fans or allies over social media.
  4. Let Others Know how you Feel. Go out and find posts relevant to your company’s niche and industry. Share your positive opinions. Not only does this make people more interested in your business, but it makes your business come off as an actual person with actual interests. People respect that, especially over social media where identities become one huge enigma.
  5. +1 Posts. +1’s are like the Google+ version of likes. Now this tactic stays consistent over all social media platforms. People appreciate it when you like their stuff. It makes them feel better about their content and makes them more generous. This newfound generosity often leads to a follow back or in Google+, another person in your circle. Not only that but a +1 gives people clarity on your interactions. They want to know that your going to interact with them, +1’s help clear that dilemma up.

Well it’s clear, whether it’s Facebook, Instagram, or even Google+, social media sets businesses up with great opportunities for success. They exponentially increase your reach, help reach new clientele, and expand your user base. Social media is becoming the advertising tool of the future and for good reason. So make sure your business starts operating across all these mediums and follow these rules. Once that happens, then the followers, likes, and customers will all come together.

4 More Ways To Boost Your Blog’s Popularity

Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 05.05.15 by John Meloche

Depositphotos_7162436_xsIn yesterday’s blog, we introduced the topic of building buzz for your company blog. This is something that we’ve been practicing for years. But we have to admit that we started promoting our blog a lot later than we started blogging. As a result, our blog wasn’t as popular, when it started, as it is now. Of course, there’s always a natural progression to how things pick up steam. But it’s important to remember that, in today’s digital world, a company’s online presence is everything.

As a result, it’s important to not just regularly add content to your website, but to promote the fact that the new content has been added. Yesterday, we pointed out that Synergy Marketing updates its Twitter and Facebook accounts each and every time a new blog is posted on our website. This has helped us to not only increase our awareness on social media, but it has helped for our blog to secure more readers as well.

Most importantly, the more people visit who our website because of our blog, the more often we are able to convert our website visitors into customers. Naturally, we do a lot of blogging about the benefits of using promotional products to advertise your brand. But our blog also incorporates a wide range of topics in order to keep things fresh and interesting. Variety is key. But, back to the point, promotion is imperative!

Being a promotional product company, you might expect us to say that. But you don’t have to take our word for it. On her website, social media strategist, Rebekah Radice offers up some sound solutions for how you can increase the popularity of your blog. Admittedly, she provides tips that we ourselves should take a look into as well. So join us in discovering new ways to build a buzz for your blog!

Here are four more ways to boost your blog’s popularity:

1. Go with Google+. Considering that Google is most commonly used as a search engine on the internet, it pays to use its services to make your company more easily accessible. “Not only is Google+ an excellent place to post your original content for increased SEO, it is also an important network to build relationships with those eager to +1 and share your content,” says Radice, “The possibility of ‘going viral’ is very real when Google+ is used properly.”

2. Pick up on Pinterest. “Take advantage of this unique magazine-style visual powerhouse to share your content with an image optimized for maximum pinning,” insists Radice, noting that there are a number of ways to create a “perfect” Pinterest image. To get more pins in your image, she advises that you do not include a human face, use a plain white background, include the colour red in it somewhere and try to go with a portrait style photo.

3. Link it to LinkedIn. This social media profile is extremely popular amongst entrepreneurs. According to Radice, “you can share your latest article to your LinkedIn profile, plus any group you manage or belong to that allows you to share your own content. Many groups on LinkedIn, Facebook and Google_ frown on ‘link dropping’ so make sure to read the group rules before making that mistake.”

4. Utilize YouTube. If it’s one thing that people seem to love using the internet for, it’s watching videos. Can you somehow turn your blog post into a video? Radice notes that blogs that contain lists of tips – and, as you can tell, we have many ourselves! – are perfect for video blogs. “Take one tip and share it in a quick 15-30 second video,” she suggests, “Then direct viewers to your site for further information on the subject.”

6 Free Social Networking Platforms That Grow Your Business

Posted in Social Media, Synergy Suggestions on 18.09.14 by John Meloche

Globe with pointers and network signals, Social media network coIn yesterday’s blog, we continued down our path of “free online promotion” blogs by taking a look at some ideas that small business owners can use to boost their businesses using the internet. It’s a lot easier than you think – and cheaper too! Obviously, it doesn’t get much cheaper than “free”. But, of course, some of the ideas take a bit of effort and creativity. After all, we’re living in a world where people flock to the internet more than ever.

That means that if your brand doesn’t have a strong internet presence, it’s practically non-existent. On SearchEngineWatch.com, Carrie Hill says as much by listing 30 different ways that entrepreneurs can promote their businesses online for free. Among them are ideas to show off your expertise in your field by writing “how-to” articles or better yet, filming “how-to” videos. There are, however, some specific sites that are among the most popular ways in the world to spread the word. Here are our top six.

1. Get on Facebook. This is a tip that we’ve been following for some time now. Facebook is arguably the most popular social networking site in the world. Even Hill admits that “Facebook is so much more robust than it ever was!” and suggests that you “create groups, events, and photo albums. Link to your Facebook profile from your site and allow visitors to your site to like and share your content.”

2. Get on Twitter. Right up there with Facebook is Twitter when it comes to world’s most popular social networking platforms. And yes, this is a tip that we follow ourselves. Each and every business day, we post links to our blogs on both our Facebook and Twitter pages in an effort to drive more traffic to our site. “Start Twittering or start doing it much better than you are now – it’s a great way to network with like-minded individuals,” insists Hill.

3. Get on Pinterest. According to its website, “Pinterest is a visual discovery tool that you can use to find ideas for all your projects and interests.” And as Hill explains, “Pinterest is hot right now. If you have visually stimulating content that is relevant to the site’s demographic, you can find great success right now. Be sure you’re using solid practices for marketing on Pinterest as you get started.”

4. Get on Google+. According to its website, “Google+ is a place to connect with friends and family, and explore all of your interests.” “Build a Google+ page for your business and follow businesses that are related to your product or service niche,” writes Hill, “Share informative and relative content and link to your profile from your website. You should also consider allowing users to +1 your content on a page by page basis.”

5. Get on Flickr. In yesterday’s blog, we mentioned how much people love watching videos online. However, that doesn’t mean that the still picture has lost its lustre! Flickr offers “picture galleries available with social networking, chat, groups, and photo ratings,” the site describes. Hill advises that you should “share your photos at Flickr – get a profile, write descriptions, and link to your website. Don’t share photos you don’t own or have permission to use.”

6. Get on Instagram. While this particular tip didn’t make Hill’s list, it should not be left off of ours. Instagram is a widely popular website and app that people use daily to post photos. As the site describes itself, “Instagram is a fast, beautiful and fun way to share your life with friends and family.” Take pictures of your products and post them with descriptions of just how great they are. The possibilities are endless!

Using Promo Gifts To Boost Your Social Media Status

Posted in Promotional Products, Synergy Suggestions on 20.02.14 by John Meloche

Social MediaReaders of the Synergy Marketing Blog are well aware that we enjoy discussing the many ways in which promotional products can help boost businesses. This blog is also known for championing the use of social media to spread the word about your brand. It all adds up. The use of both promo gifts and social networking sites are inexpensive ways to significantly increase awareness about your company.

But can they work hand in hand? The obvious answer is “of course they can!” But how can one take advantage of promotional gifts and social media at the same time? Can they truly work in conjunction with each other? Carla Frogatt certainly thinks so. On SearchEngineJournal.com, she writes that “a promotional gift lasts longer than a tweet or a status.”

This is because “they are concrete, have utility and are a less disposable marketing tool than many assume,” she continues, “You can use the longevity they offer your brand campaign to increase traffic to, and awareness of, your social media efforts.” So, in other words, using your promotional gifts to enhance the popularity of your social media profiles can greatly elevate your company’s prestige. But how?

QR Codes. Also known as “Quick Response Codes”, these obscure-looking square designs can be found on nearly everything these days. They enable consumers to use their smart phones to scan codes that generally lead them directly to company websites, social media pages or blogs. Once you have one designed, you can have it attached to one of your unique promo gifts.

The benefit to placing QR Codes on your promo gifts is that they are bound to last longer than if they were printed on flyers. As you know, promotional products are useful items that can be used daily and last for many years. The more often they are used, the more often people will think about your business. In today’s internet-crazed world, a promo gift that directs people to your website is bound to grow your popularity.

Frogatt suggests you take the idea another step further. “Incentive your recipients by using the QR code to direct them to a competition,” she suggests. This is a great idea considering that promo gifts are often used as prizes for contests. And contests are always great ways to generate excitement about your business. Consider starting a contest and using your promo gifts as ways to promote it!

Hashtag Campaign. Hashtags are all the rage these days. What was once known as “the number sign”, the hashtag is now a popular way of underscoring a topic of conversation on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Google+. A few examples that would make sense to use in this very blog entry are #promogifts, #socialmedia and #SynergyMarketing. As Frogatt points out, hashtags are ways of tracking topics or trends on social media.

She suggests that you “devise inventive hashtags to create a buzz around your company or campaign. Puns and humorous phrases work particularly well; keep it light, fresh and ‘social’.” And what better way to promote your new hashtag campaign than to stick one on your new promotional gift? In tomorrow’s blog, we’ll delve deeper into how this concept can help grow your business.

7 Methods Of Establishing Brand Loyalty

Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 19.02.14 by John Meloche

Brand LoyaltyMarketing your business is important. And, if you’re a business owner, you know full-well that that’s the biggest understatement of all time. Marketing your business is essential if you want to run a business at all. So, over the past couple of days, the Synergy Marketing Blog has been offering marketing tips courtesy of Smarta.com. In today’s blog, we’ll conclude our view of this list of tips.

Run a competition. “Give something away and get people talking about your business,” recommends Smarta.com, “You could run a competition from your shop and advertise it online. This could get more people visiting your shop: more people will see your awesome products and ultimately buy from you.” There’s nothing quite like creating a competition to generate excitement. Why do you think the Olympics are so popular?

Offer to write for a trade magazine or website. If you can write a blog for your website, like we suggested yesterday, then there’s no reason that you can’t write for another publication. Doing so will help to expose your expertise to an audience that otherwise may never have heard of you. As the website puts it, “it’s another way of getting your business known and makes you look even more reputable.”

Try to win an award. You may be surprised to know how many award opportunities are about there. Smarta.com reminds us that sending in applications can be a fairly easy process that can provide pretty big payoffs. Winning an award, or at least being nominated for one, will help you to get some well-deserved press. Naturally, it will increase the buying public’s confidence in you as well.

Form a partnership. Most business owners approach their marketing strategies in such ways that they look to outdo their competition. And they should. But it doesn’t have to be a non-stop battle. Joining forces with like-minded business owners is another great way to strengthen your company’s image. As the website points out, partnerships help you to gain access to a whole new network of customers.

Help out a local charity. Goodwill is always a good thing. When you support local charities, you are placing yourself in high standing within your community. Helping those in need is a great thing to do, no matter what. But it goes without saying that your local contributions to your community will also help for your business to be regarded in a favourable light.

Ask experts to write on your website. Writes Smarta.com, “just like you, thousands of other businesses and people are looking to market themselves. If they’re relevant, why not allow them to write a comment piece and post it on your website? Regular updates help your website to climb the Google rankings and guest posts are great link bait: your blogger will tell everyone they know to read it!”

Use promotional products. This particular tip is one that you’ll always find on the Synergy Marketing Blog. Cost-conscious and constantly effective, promo gifts create personal bonds that help for your brand to develop strong senses of loyalty among its clients. Call us today at 1-877-748-9884 to order the promotional gift that is perfect for pushing your business and establishing brand loyalty.

Becoming An Expert Social Media Communicator

Posted in Synergy Suggestions on 24.10.13 by John Meloche

Social media seems to be a hot topic this month. Well, to be honest, it’s been a hot topic for quite some time simply because social media are used to discuss hot topics! This week, we’ve been looking at articles that promote the use of social media for business marketing. Earlier this month, Ian Lurie wrote on Entrepreneur.com that using social media the right way, can get your business boosted in a big way.

It’s all about doing the “little things”, he says. And while admitting that there is “no shortcut to success”, utilizing your social networking profiles to the best of your ability will help to increase your brand awareness in ways you likely never imagined. This is especially true considering that following his list of tips will cost you absolutely nothing. Advertising your business for free can’t be a bad thing, can it?

It’s all about being a good communicator, Lurie says. It needs to be constantly reiterated that social media is all about socializing. As he puts it, it is “really a crowd of people talking – usually to each other.” So how do you “cut through the noise and really engage with people”? How do you avoid turning people off while simply trying to inform them of what your business does? Lurie offers his tips.

Write well. When you’re posting on your Facebook and Twitter profiles on behalf of your business, it’s important to not just use proper punctuation and grammar, but the right tone as well. You want to “write in a comfortable voice, not a formal one,” says Lurie. Keep it short and concise when possible and be sure you’re confident in what you’re saying before sending your message out into the world.

Use images when it makes sense. People do love their pictures. And as Lurie reports, posts with images get approximately two to three times more interest. However, you don’t want to add pictures to your posts simply for the sake of adding pictures. Make sure they are relevant to your post. Remember, they don’t all have to be directly related to your business. It’s all about getting people interested in your topic.

Utilize video. As much as people love pictures, they seem to love videos twice as much. Is it any wonder that sites such as YouTube and Vimeo are so popular? Nothing attracts an audience like an interesting video. Share videos that make sense. And while you’re choosing your videos, make sure that they are in keeping with the type of audience you are looking to attract. You don’t want to offend anyone.

Take advantage of all social networks. According to Lurie, there’s really no limit to the number of different social media profiles you can have. Facebook and Twitter are among the most popular, but there are several more sites out there. From Google+ to LinkedIn to SlideShare, there are various sites that can help your business expand its reach across cyberspace.

Respond immediately. “If someone asks a question or proposes an alternate viewpoint, answer them quickly,” writes Lurie, “This gives people the impression you care about their needs and are responsive.” It is also the entire purpose of social media. They give business owners direct links to their customers and the unique ability to keep in constant touch. Make use of this great invention!
